University of Texas at Austin – One Stop
McKinney York Architects designed the Texas One Stop project at the University of Texas at Austin, as a welcoming and efficient service environment for students.
The Texas One Stop provides a welcoming environment for students attempting to navigate the “business” side of their tenure at the university. A consolidation of services provided by various offices across campus in the past, it is designed to diffuse students’ tensions and frustrations, inspire confidence that their problems will be taken care of, and efficiently provide the answers they need so they can focus on academics, a rich student life, and a successful graduation.
As a primary representation of the institution, it is located in the most recognizable building on campus – the UT Tower. The design concept honors the historic significance of the building by reinforcing, renovating, and replicating the original details and finishes at the perimeter of the space while incorporating a modern vocabulary at the interior to represent the present and future experiences of the users. The thoughtful integration of technology and the care taken to provide an equitable service environment provides the students with an easy and stress-mitigating experience
