Shoreland and Silver Creek Elementary Schools
The Collaborative led the design of Shoreland and Silver Creek Elementary Schools in Ohio where each school supports 700 students, emphasizing community and inclusion, and both achieving LEED V4.3 Silver Certification.
Upon a successful levy passage, the Washington Local School District kicked off their improvement plan with a visioning session. The Collaborative guided the team through the process, keeping a focus on the schools’ mission and desired outcomes.
Through this vision, two new elementary schools now support 700 students per building in grades K-5. Shoreland and Silver Creek are each built in accordance with the Ohio School Design Manual.
Shoreland and Silver Creek Elementary Schools were the first step in a number of future moves to revise and recreate the entire district. The Collaborative was hired to help with this new vision, where students’ emotional, physical and economical situations would not limit their ability to learn and flourish.
The two state-of-the-art schools are both designed with neighborhood pods with extended learning areas that create a community school feel within the larger overall facility. Whether it be the multiple sensory spaces throughout the school or the purposeful inclusion of all students in the innovative learning environments, the design creates a second home for them.
Both schools are LEED V4.3 Silver Certified.
