  • The new campus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) at Dubai International Academic City reimagines the timeless architecture of Louis Kahn through a contemporary interior language. Conceived under the concept “Legacy Reimagined,” the design translates the institute’s monumental brick facades, bold geometric forms, and interplay of light into a refined academic environment that reflects Dubai’s cosmopolitan outlook.

A carefully composed palette of terracotta finishes, textured micro-concrete, ash wood veneers, and biophilic elements connects the interiors to IIMA’s heritage, while accents of blue and orange fabrics—drawn from the institute’s identity—infuse vibrancy and modernity. Spatial planning emphasizes collaboration and adaptability: hybrid learning classrooms, seminar rooms with acoustic partitions, coworking clusters, and stepped seating areas are interwoven with lounges and libraries to support both formal and informal modes of exchange.

Bespoke joinery, writable glass panels, and modular furniture enhance function and flexibility while ensuring durability in UAE’s climate. Sustainability underpins the design through low-VOC materials, energy-efficient lighting, and optimized daylight strategies. Together, the Dubai campus embodies IIMA’s enduring values of resilience, intellectual rigor, and community—while shaping an environment that honors heritage and empowers future leaders.
