  • Wellington College International, Pune is a 375,000 sq ft K–12 campus organized around a series of interconnected learning clusters. Set on a 9.3-acre site, the school brings together multi-functional studios, collaboration zones, and outdoor extensions in a layout designed to support a wide range of learning activities.

The campus is arranged along an east–west spine with courtyards, semi-open terraces, and shaded circulation routes that draw natural light and ventilation deep into the building. Each learning cluster includes flexible studios connected by transparent or operable partitions, allowing spaces to shift seamlessly between focused work, group activities, project-based learning, and informal gathering.

Early Years and Primary Years environments use warm materials, gentle tones, and intimate proportions to create a calm, home-like atmosphere. These zones feature reading nooks, playful internal transparency, and open floor plans that support easy movement and passive supervision. As students progress through the school, the interiors open up into taller volumes with more defined breakout spaces, study niches, and collaboration areas suited to older learners.

Across all levels, internal staircases double as stepped seating and gathering areas, adding layers of informal activity along major circulation paths. Thoughtfully placed seating pockets, stepped elements, and casual meeting corners offer alternatives to traditional desk-based learning while maintaining clear views and accessibility. Acoustic treatment in high-energy zones ensures sound quality throughout the building.

Materiality plays a key role in establishing the school’s identity. Brick, concrete, natural wood, granite, and marble form a warm, timeless palette. Arched openings inspired by Wellington’s heritage are reinterpreted in contemporary proportions, framing views and creating a rhythmic transition through the campus.

Biophilic elements soften interior–exterior boundaries with planter beds, green pockets, and terraces integrated along main circulation routes. Play areas and outdoor learning spaces extend towards the river edge on the southern side, giving students multiple touchpoints with nature throughout the day.

The result is a cohesive interior environment defined by adaptability, comfort, and strong spatial connections — a learning ecosystem with varied settings that support exploration, interaction, and a rich pattern of daily student life.
