Georgia Gwinnett College Gateway Center

Little Diversified Architectural Consulting designed the Georgia Gwinnett College Gateway Center in Lawrenceville, as a vibrant hub that integrates recreation, wellness, and community celebration within a striking architectural form.

Serving as both the heart of student life and the gateway to campus, the Georgia Gwinnett College Gateway Center redefines the modern collegiate recreation and convocation facility. Envisioned as a dynamic intersection of wellness, community, and celebration, the 72,280 square foot building supports daily recreation and wellness activities while seamlessly transforming into a high-capacity venue for major campus events. Positioned at the east campus entry, the Gateway Center anchors the college’s growing campus and establishes a strong sense of identity. Its sweeping curved roof and warm brick façade connect to the college’s architectural heritage while projecting a forward-looking image of innovation and inclusivity.

Inside, a naturally lit student commons links the campus facing west entry to the east athletic fields, connecting diverse program elements around a 3,100 seat multipurpose arena. The arena serves as home to Grizzlies athletics and as a flexible venue for commencements, concerts, and community gatherings, reflecting the building’s dual role as an everyday hub and a setting for landmark moments.

A 5,400 square foot fitness mezzanine, group exercise studios, and wellness spaces promote health and engagement, while inclusive design features and high-quality finishes reinforce the college’s commitment to equity and well-being. Sustainable strategies including daylighting, efficient systems, low VOC materials, and water conscious design enhance both occupant health and environmental performance.

The Gateway Center embodies Georgia Gwinnett College’s mission to foster holistic student success, serving as a landmark of identity, pride, and belonging that stands as a true gateway to the student experience.
