Powhatan Middle School
Moseley Architects completed the Powhatan Middle School to make advances in innovative learning for students in Powhatan, Virginia.
The Powhatan Middle School project began with a study, evolved through a series of design workshops with the community, and ultimately encompassed the demolition of a major portion of the school, the construction of a two-story infill addition, and the renovation of the existing gymnasium and career and technology education (CTE) wing. The new two-story in-fill houses classrooms and labs, a media center, administration offices, food service, and mechanical/electrical systems. The design team worked closely with Powhatan County Public Schools (PCPS) and the school staff to design innovative learning spaces that correspond with a new CTE program and the existing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) program.
