Bond Architects recently completed the design of a new, dynamic 78,000 SF elementary school for the School District of Washington in Washington, MO. The new school features 21 classrooms for grade levels kindergarten through sixth, four classrooms dedicated to special needs, and an age-appropriate STEM lab. Classrooms wings, arranged in “pods,” prominently feature collaborative spaces. Large sliding doors between classrooms give an opportunity for combined grade level group work. The predominantly glass corner of the media center / library overlooks the valley and Highway 100 below. An ICC storm shelter was also included as part of the gym.
