  • Stantec designed the Spring Branch ISD Memorial High School with a strong identity of the school colors and spirit in Houston, Texas.

Memorial High School’s new four-story, 161,249 square-foot building addition and renovations is located on the existing site and replaces six older academic buildings. This modernization elevates teaching, learning, and engagement to new heights in both design and functionality.

The landlocked campus created a challenge for expansion. The solution was relocating tennis courts and the bus loop, freeing up space for the academic building that features a two-story dining area, 21 science labs, 28 general classrooms with abundant natural light, collaborative learning spaces, and a suite for assistant principals.

Design details focused on murals of the school’s Red Mustang mascot, acoustic ceilings, a main central atrium, and modern staircase transparent red railing.

Amenity upgrades include athletics turf system, safety netting, practice fields, field house, eight-court tennis complex, and renovation of grass practice fields. Additional facility maintenance offered improvements to safety and site usage while mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system upgrades were also needed for this school originally built in 1963.
