  • MOPI School, located in a wooded area of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, features an architectural design that explores the relationship between the urban environment and the surrounding nature. The main facade is designed with perforated, pre-oxidized copper panels mounted on a laminated reforestation wood structure. This facade faces an avenue that connects the city’s north and west zones, while the opposite side of the building is oriented towards the Tijuca Forest Reserve.

The building is divided into four volumes connected by circulation balconies. Two elliptical volumes house the main classrooms, while the other two, shaped like water droplets, are dedicated to complementary spaces such as laboratories, a library, and art rooms.

The structure allows for cross-ventilation and natural light, aiding in the cooling of the spaces. The circulation ramps, with an 8% incline, were designed to ensure accessibility and inclusion. Double translucent glass in the classrooms provides natural light without causing distractions.

The rooftop has been transformed into a suspended garden with both educational and recreational functions, offering a broad view of the landscape.
