  • Rough Hollow Elementary School is the second iteration of the Lake Travis ISD prototype elementary school designed by Pfluger Architects. The school is designed to house 850 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The two-story campus plan is arranged into six teaching neighborhoods which break out the student population by grade into smaller learning communities.

At the core of the neighborhoods are the shared facilities, such as the main entrance and office, cafeteria, gymnasium, library, and outdoor learning commons. These spaces are centralized to minimize travel distance and maximize learning time. Throughout the building, the school is filled with natural light from clerestories and vision windows. Careful thought was given to the location of glazing, acoustics, materials and furniture to ensure the learning environments are comfortable spaces that support student learning and wellbeing.

Pfluger is currently adapting this prototype to an additional site for Lake Travis ISD’s ninth elementary school.
