Pfluger Architects collaborated with Pflugerville ISD to design Hidden Lake Elementary School, focusing on creating a safe, dynamic, and cost-effective environment that promotes learning, accessibility, and community engagement.
Pfluger Architects collaborated with Pflugerville ISD to bring a well-planned architectural design to life and create a safe and dynamic learning environment in Hidden Lake Elementary School.
Pfluger Architects developed the design in close collaboration with educators and the community, involving the general contractor early in the process and engaging the district in design team meetings to adapt the design to the escalating construction market. Pfluger identified multiple alternatives to help control costs, particularly in HVAC selection, leading to a guaranteed maximum price aligned with the district’s budget.
Hidden Lake Elementary School’s design includes secure and accessible community spaces and provides students with easy access to outdoor playgrounds and outdoor learning areas. The building’s design reflects the local environment and allows natural light to enhance the learning experience throughout the building without causing discomfort from heat. Despite the presence of sunlight, the spaces remain cool and comfortable.
The layout of Hidden Lake Elementary promotes visibility and easy access across various educational spaces, supporting diverse learning methods and accommodating special needs. With its doors now open, the school provides young learners with a nurturing and inclusive environment. It serves as a cornerstone for the community, fostering educational excellence and adaptability.
