Georgia Institute of Technology – Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education Renovation at Clough Commons (VPUE)
ASD|SKY redesigned Georgia Tech’s office space to promote collaboration, resource efficiency, and student engagement through open workspaces and specialized areas.
Starting in late 2022, ASD|SKY became involved with the Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education at Georgia Tech for the renovation of their office space. Previously separated into three different suites, the goal of this renovation was to create a more collaborative environment by combining these into one unified area. Through this effort ASD|SKY was also able to better allocate resources by reducing oversized individual offices for more open, shared workspaces. This new design also created a much-needed connection to the tutoring center which allowed for expansion of programs such as first generation, and foreign national student outreach.
Relying on a robust series of 3D Visualizations, our team facilitated the programming process by communicating the design in an easy-to-understand format for all stakeholders. Early in the design, a collaborative approach was taken to ensure this innovative approach would facilitate the goals of the organization. Unique to this office space was the integration of several open collaboration areas to enhance the welcomeness and ability for staff to work closely with their students. Additional spaces to address neurodiversity were integrated including a room dedicated to acoustic sensitivity and a room dedicated to visual and light sensitivities.
Overall, the project achieved the goals of providing a new welcoming space for both faculty and students within the 1-million-dollar project budget. The success of the space has been evident through recent use for career development, tutoring, and other community events.
