Providence Day School – Auerbach Hall
Little Diversified Architectural Consulting’s Auerbach Hall at Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, promotes creativity and exploration through flexible, biophilic spaces that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor learning environments.
Providence Day School’s Auerbach Hall is designed to support Lower School learners and the extended-day program by fostering creativity and exploration. The building connects indoor, outdoor, and shared learning environments, encouraging discovery and hands-on engagement in welcoming, inclusive spaces for all students.
Organized as a series of learning neighborhoods, the building extends learning beyond the traditional classroom. Flexible spaces throughout the design support a wide range of activities, from focused instruction to collaborative play, allowing the environment to adapt to the needs of students and educators throughout the day.
The building combines high-performance design with biophilic principles to enhance the physical and emotional well-being of all learners. It features ample natural daylight throughout, with direct views of nearby landscapes and easy access to outdoor learning spaces, fostering meaningful connections to nature. These elements collectively encourage healthier learning habits and deepen students’ connection to their environment.
