Irving ISD Baby University – South
Irving ISD Baby University by Corgan in Irving, Texas, offers a nurturing design that fosters early cognitive development through a home-like atmosphere and engaging outdoor play areas tailored for infants and.
Baby University is an innovative initiative created to extend learning opportunities to infants and toddlers aged birth to three years old within Irving ISD. Designed exclusively for district employees, the center provides childcare services, prenatal classes, and early learning programs that nurture early cognitive development.
Corgan designed a warm, home-like environment with a gabled exterior and exposed structural wood interiors. The layout creates a gentle progression from infant rooms to energetic toddler spaces. Outdoor play areas are crafted to spark curiosity, creativity, and calm transitions.
Nature inspired the interior palette, blending calm blues and greens with bright orange accents. LVT flooring creates defined gathering zones, while floral graphics and the district’s ladybug mascot animate corridor activity spaces.
The center is organized into four age groups, each with play areas tailored to developmental milestones. Classrooms connect directly to two courtyards: one dedicated to infants with sensory elements and interactive turf “funserts,” and a toddler courtyard featuring a blue turf river, bridge, canoe, and nature-inspired play structures.
Additional activity spaces include wall-mounted puzzles, foam play pieces, and a large activity room equipped for dramatic and active play. This room features a hearth and a cozy reading nook, also serving as a gathering space for events.
