The Brian Mulroney Institute of Governance at St. Francis Xavier University is dedicated to the study of government, Canada-U.S. relations, and global affairs. In association with Barrie & Langille Architects, Moriyama Teshima Architects designed an academic facility that houses flexible and modern learning spaces, large classrooms, a 300-person auditorium, an open atrium, and an exhibition centre of artifacts reflecting significant moments in Prime Minister Brian Mulroney’s political history. The design integrates itself into the existing topography of the campus and establishes a strong relationship with the Angus L. MacDonald Library.

Inside, the grand, inviting lobby provides plenty of natural light, along with direct access to the replica office. There are interactive learning spaces, casual lounges, and a Scholar’s Walk on the second floor, creating a flexible space for learning that also recognizes the intention of the building as an institute. Today, the design renders Mulroney Hall a distinguished presence that announces itself as an iconic structure on a highly visible hillside site.
